The Best Dressed Men at the 2016 Golden Globes

It’s that time of the year again – awards season. Lets face it, it’s not just about who won what. Yes, the great Sam Smith won the award for ‘best original song’ and Kate Winslet won the award for ‘best supporting actress’… but it’s also about who wore what.

This year’s Golden Globes red carpet showcased some of the finest, most stylish men in fashion. Let’s take a look at the gentlemen that stood out at this “black tie” themed event.

Obviously this isn’t Orlando Bloom’s first red carpet, as he’s clearly nailed the black tie look. He looks dapper wearing a timeless black suit with shawl collar lapels and a satin finish tied together with one button. Classic yet effortless – what more could we ask for?

Sleek in black, Bryan Cranston ditched his mysterious Walter White (Breaking Bad) look for a full out, head-to-toe tuxedo. He paired it with dapper black dress shoes and of course, his signature smirk.

We all know Sam Smith is an amazingly talented singer, but did you know he also has a killer sense of style? This year he pulled off a timeless red carpet look, wearing a black jacket with one-button peak lapels. Notice his perfect bowtie and distinct white pocket square. Standing next to him is his producer, Jimmy Napes, rocking out a navy blue velvet jacket with solid black lapels. Looking sharp, gents!

Bryshere Gray from Empire makes a bold fashion statement by bringing back the double-breasted tuxedo, which is something we don’t see everyday. The wide peak lapels however, may be a tad too wide for his small frame. He puts his own spin to the classic look with a bowtie, Pocket Square and sleek tassel loafers.

Paul Dano also rocks a sleek navy double-breasted tuxedo with a black satin finish. Not only is it perfectly tailored; he keeps it simple with the standard accessories – a true power move.

Not only did Jon Hamm finally win a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Don Draper in Mad Men, he also won on the red carpet by putting his own twist to the classic black tie look with a three-piece suit and notch lapels.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took a bit of a risk and crushed it in a red velvet suit jacket with a two-button peak lapel twist. That’s not something we see everyday, but Dwayne made it work by pairing it with a classic white shirt and black tie. Dwyane ‘Rocked’ it!

Another risk taken is by David Oyelowo. The shawl collar 3 piece look suit says it all. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen David wearing a very trendy bow shaped vest, putting his own spin in this one of a kind look. He has been known to rock some playful red carpet looks, but Sunday night’s purple patterned look took it to a whole new level. He manages to pull it off though, and leaves us wondering what he’ll be wearing to the next red carpet.

There’s no doubt Brad Pitt was looking fine in a classic black suit. However, the only person who may have outshined him that evening is Ryan Gosling. Gosling stole the show in a clean vintage white tuxedo.

Clearly there were a variety of spin-offs on the term “black tie” event. Our favorite picks for the top three ‘best dressed men’ would have to be Orlando Bloom in his classic tuxedo, Paul Dano with his navy double-breasted suit, and of course, Ryan Gosling.
